Workshop Outline:
Life is tough at the moment and even though all our clients are adapting and coping with the changes, what is happening in the world is requiring even more resilience and adapting. The last four years have taken a toll on our client’s energy levels and their ability to bounce back and it has been a perfect storm for clients to feel overwhelmed and in distress.
This workshop will focus on using Solution Focused Brief Therapy questions to help clients cope no matter what the presenting problem. SFBT is a non-pathological mental health approach, therefore no matter what the crisis or presenting problem, our aim is to help the client manage and cope better, re-brief their resilience and build solutions to empower the client to deal with their life. Whether our clients present with anxiety, depression or have to manage trauma or grief, our job as Solution Focused Therapists is to guide the client to their desired outcomes, gain hope, find their inner strengths, build their resilience and gain insight to make the next progress small step forward.
The workshop will conclude with the concept of vicarious resilience and therapist self-care. Working with clients in crisis is draining and as clinicians we need to take care of ourselves and be mindful of our own mental health.
