Workshop Outline:
The Solution Focused Approach is often seen as simple to read but hard to apply. To become a skilled Solution Focused practitioner we often attend workshops and read as much as possible to enhance our knowledge and understanding. However when working with a client in crisis it is not as simple and easy to apply what we have read and learnt.
This webinar aims at being practical and hands-on. I will be showing a full Solution Focused Brief Therapy session with an adult client and with a child client.
Part 1 of the webinar will be a case study presentation of using Solution Focused Brief Therapy with a client in crisis. We will be discussing the following in this part of the webinar:
- The Solution Focused Brief Therapy process
- Solution Focused Brief Therapy language
- What to do when you get stuck
- Using the client as an expert
Part 2 of the webinar will be a case study presentation of a Solution Focused Brief Therapy session with a child. In this section of the webinar we will be looking at:
- How to engage with a child
- Turing solution focused questions into playful activities
- Unpacking a goal with a child

- Value of scaling

- Critically evaluate a Solution Focused session

- Evaluate the impact the question has on the client
- Turn a question into a playful activity
- Create a future vision
- Compare the difference between problem question and a solution question
- Notice the impact of pre-suppositions
- Be playful
Outcomes of the webinar:
