Course Outline:
Listening to stories of trauma, pain, hurt and struggle on a daily basis is extremely challenging. Being able to contain the emotions of other’s is not only a skill but a passion. Compassion fatigue is not a term coined by magazines it is a REAL exhaustion and an emptiness or irritability felt for good reason. Continuously being at the receiving end of emotional turmoil is draining and leads to burnout. We all know that self-care is necessity however, we never seem to get the time to do it. This short course offers you the opportunity to take care of yourself and debrief from the secondary trauma you might be carrying. I have designed a set of Solution Focused questions that you can ask yourself to debrief from the trauma you have heard and to rebrief your own strengths so that you can continue working in a healthy way. This short course will not only help you regain some of your energy and passion but it will also teach you valuable Solution Focused questions to ask yourself as a professional.
Aims of the Course:
- Understand compassion fatigue and secondary trauma
