Workshop Outline:
Solution Focused Play therapy is exciting creative, brief and highly effective. By externalizing the problem and then utilizing the child’s strengths, interests and personality to build solutions in a creative and playful way; gives the child control and skills to do things differently. This workshop will illustrate how to help children to externalise the problem, how to find exceptions and creatively and playfully incorporate these exceptions into the child’s daily life to bring about change. Solution Focused Therapy believes that in the presence of a problem lies an absence of a skill therefore using previously positive skills (exceptions) builds new and healthier ways of behaviour and interaction. Empowering the child in a playful and creative manner gives the child all the tools he needs to take control of his life and change his behaviour. This workshop will look at utilising drawings, puppets, story CD’s, treasure hunts, magic wands and even a time machine.
