Doing things differently means searching for the Wow”s and finding what the child CAN do without labeling and judging. Elliott Connie, one of the world leaders in Solution focused Brief Therapy and has the following to say about the School of Merit in Johannesburg: “There are few places in the world that allow you to feel the Solution Focused Approach as soon as you arrive; The School of Merritt in South Africa is one such place. During my first trip to teach in South Africa I got the privilege to visit this school and spend some time with the students of the school. From the moment I stepped onto the campus I knew I was at a school unlike any place I had ever been to. The most touching part of the day was when I spent some time with a few of the older students. They told me what it was like to be in this school and how it had impacted them. I was amazed as each and every student spoke about how much they love their school and their classmates. I was amazed as I listened to the founder of this school Merritt Watson talk about her vision for the school and how she created this environment. I am not sure I have ever been around someone that exudes the Solution Focused ideas as much as Merritt, it is in every pour of her body and leaks onto everyone she encounters.” In this webinar I interview Merritt Watson what she thinks the most important aspects of doing differently is all about.
