Webinar Outline:
In this webinar we meet the fantastic Teri Pichot, the director of the Denver Center for Solution Focused therapy. Teri has written numerous books on the Solution Focused approach and will share her work with us on how she incorporates dogs into her Solution Focused treatment programmes. Teri will share the basic fundamentals of using therapy dogs and discuss how Animal-Assisted Therapy can successfully be combined with SFBT when dealing with addictions.
Dogs are really good at Solution Focused therapy and looking at the small signs such as a tail wag, a gentle lick, or a snuggle can create big changes in the client. Using dogs at the centre of Relationship Questions creates many exceptions during client sessions. Teri will share her ideas of staying curious and, as she says “We seek to stay in the “not-knowing” stance”. Teri keeps it simple and sets aside jargon, she searches for the good reasons and she has the most incredible ability to listen selectively.
Aims of the webinar:
- Understand the basic tenets of Animal Assisted therapy
- To incorporate therapy dogs into a SF treatment programme
- To use dogs at the centre of our relationship questions
- To be able to work without judgement
- to work without labels
- to search for the clients good reason
